Thus, Hanuman Jayanti is observed on the 15th day in the month of Chaitra (the Chaitra Pournima) during the Shukla Paksha. Known as Vanara God, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated to enjoy the birth of Lord Hanuman. His avatar is deemed as the 11th Rudra incarnation of the Lord Siva with generous devotion, strength, knowledge, divine power, courage, intelligence, spirit for selfless service etc.
Various Names of Hanuman Jayanti
In the states of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Hanuman Jayanti is the day, and the celebrations for the same run for 41 days beginning with Chaitra Purnima and terminating on the tenth day during Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. In Tamil Nadu, Hanumath Jayanti is observed during Margashirsha Amavasya, but in Karnataka, Hanuman Jayanti is understood as Hanuman Vratam.

1. The day begins with Tatkalik Tithi first and foremost (Ratrivyapini).
2. Devotees rest on the floor one night before the fast and worship Ram-Sita and Hanuman.
3. Ram-Sita and Hanuman are worshipped again in the morning.
4. They take a shower after getting up early on this day.
5. They then take the Sankalp (oath) for the Vrat with one hand holding water.
6. They are instructed to sit near the east and to face east or north while sitting.
7. Make a courteous prayer to Lord Hanuman.
Finally, they worship him while adhering to all Shodashopachar traditions (the 16 rites).
