CSD for Ex-Servicemen: Going Digital
The Indian government, under the Ministry of Defence, is taking steps to introduce a digital platform for the benefit of ex-servicemen. This initiative aims to provide CSD canteen facilities and other services similar to popular online shopping platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. The primary objective is to ensure that ex-servicemen living in remote areas can easily access these facilities. Honorable Member of Parliament, Shri Ajay Pratap Singh, has raised the following questions:
Will the government create an e-platform, similar to Amazon and Flipkart, specifically for ex-servicemen? The purpose would be to provide CSD canteen facilities and other services, ensuring convenience for soldiers settled in far-flung areas.
If the answer to the above question is yes, what progress has been made so far? Additionally, how many districts have already started implementing this facility?
In response to these questions, the Minister of State, Shri Ajay Bhatt, in the Ministry of Defence, has stated:
Currently, an online portal is available for the sale of Against Firm Demand Items Category One (AFD-I), which includes four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and white goods. These services are accessible to eligible CSD beneficiaries, including ex-servicemen, throughout India.
