The Regional Transport Office (RTO) oversees all motor vehicles in the country, and it’s essential to register your vehicle with them. This involves an inspection and verification process after which a permanent registration number is assigned to your vehicle. This ID remains the same, even if the vehicle is sold.

In Karnataka, there are two methods for vehicle registration: Dealer or Self. Either the car dealership can handle the new car registration process or you can do it yourself by visiting the local RTO. Note that the registration process differs depending on whether the vehicle is commercial or private.
