BS-VI Norms: Sale of BS-VI Norms Vehicles

Whether the Government proposes to introduce sale of BS-VI Norms vehicles shortly to curb pollution across the country?

Whether the Hon’ble Supreme Court has barred BS-IV vehicles to ply after April 1, 2020 and turned down the plea of the Union Government and automobile industry for time extension enabling them to sell their existing stock of vehicles?

Steps taken or being taken by the Government to help automobile industry in this regard which is already reeling under great losses?

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has informed that, vide Notification No. GSR 889(E) dated 16.09.2016, it has mandated mass emission standard for BS-VI throughout the country with effect from April 1, 2020.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court on 24th October 2018, has ordered that no new motor vehicle conforming to the emission standard BS-IV shall be sold or registered in the entire country with effect from 1.4.2020.
