The Department of Canteen Stores (CSD) has successfully established a highly efficient online platform within the last two years. This platform is specifically designed for Armed Forces Personnel and Ex-Servicemen to conveniently purchase AFD-I (Against Firm Demand) items. Known as the CSD AFD online portal (afd.csdindia.gov.in), this platform bears a resemblance to popular private online stores such as Amazon and Flipkart. However, there are two significant differences between the private portals and the CSD AFD portal.
Firstly, the prices of items on the CSD AFD portal are noticeably lower compared to those found in the open market. Secondly, customers must acquire a Local Supply Order (LS Order) from their nearest Unit Run Canteen (URC) in order to finalize their purchase.
